Weekly Wrap-Up (13)
Snap back to reality
What a week! I attended my first in-person conference in YEARS this week. Yes I did need 2-3 business days to recover. It was really great to see so many coworkers (and meet many of them in person for the first time). Even though I love working from home, I find that I get really excited when I get the chance to see my coworkers in person.
What I read
These last few days were a race to the finish line to get a few reads clocked in for March! I finished up Eileen, The One, and Black Cake. A March wrap-up to come soon! And a deep dive into The Selection series which I developed a VERY unhealthy obsession with.
This week's obsessions
I got the idea for weekly 'obsessions' from the Bad on Paper podcast, where every week hosts Grace and Becca share their weekly obsessions. I feel like I've become an IRL influencer because I've been talking to colleagues and friends about all of my favourite things lately and now I need an outlet to share!
Bad on Paper (podcast episode): Always ask for more money - negotiating your salary, getting a promotion, and setting freelance rates: I'm deep into the Bad On Paper podcast backlist. I came across this episode and LOVED it. Grace and Becca talk openly about their salaries throughout their career, how they negotiated promotions, and give advice on how to set yourself up for the next step in your career. I highly recommend listening to this one! I was offered a promotion and accepted it as is, and REALLY regret it (I could have asked for more)!! I took lots of notes from this one and am already putting some things into action.
See You Sundae Tan Water: So with spring around the corner, the sun staying out longer, and my inability to handle seeing my pale, pale face on Zoom all day, I wanted a natural glow that bronzer just was not giving me (everything looks orange!). I have lost all will when it comes to Instagram ads, so when I saw See You Sundae's ad for their tan water I caved and ordered it (it's a female-owned Canadian company)! And I honestly LOVE it. It's become a big part of my skincare routine and I find I don't have to wear make-up at all when I'm wearing it. It does give a very natural, not orangey glow as long as you use it gradually and not every single day (that's what worked for me).
Aerie: Henley Sweater: Again, I'm thinking about this seasonal transition. I saw this Henley sweater at Aerie (at 50% off) and thought it would be a super cute spring to summer light sweater. I bought the white, and have fav'd a few others to buy. I generally recommend anything from Aerie, and this is a cute and cozy winner!
Until next week!
