Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man by Emmanuel Acho

BOOK 17 OF 2021

RATING: 4/5

I went to pick up a library hold last week and was STOKED to see I had a few surprise books available, this one included! Even though I have a list of books I want to get through in February, I started this one immediately (and it took me two days to read).

Acho’s writing is very approachable and readable (quite literally like you’re having a conversation with him). I love how for each topic he covers, he gives some historical context, contemporary examples, ways for you to confront your own privilege and biases, and accessible action items.

I think this is a wonderful book for ANYONE because it’s very approachable (but of course, challenging, enlightening, and uncomfortable).
