The Girl with the Louding Voice by Abe Dare
BOOK 31 OF 2021
RATING: 4.5/5
The Girl with the Louding Voice is one of those books I have not seen a single bad review about, and since having read it, I totally get it.
This book follows Adduni, a teenage girl growing up in rural Nigeria who longs to go to school, get an education, and be able to speak up for herself. That's really all I knew about the book going into it (and much of what the book blurb offers), but it makes the book that much more special not having any idea of where Adunni's journey will take you.
One of my favourite things about the book is how throughout the story, her English improves to show how far she's come in terms of her learning. The narration may take a bit of getting used to at the beginning of the book as it's narrated in first person by Adduni, ahhh, but it was my favourite thing each chapter to see her improvement.
This is a really great read that will put your life in perspective, and make you think about how you may have taken everything in your life (especially your education) for granted.
