Take a Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert
BOOK 24 OF 2021
RATING: 4.5/5
THERE WAS SO MUCH ABOUT THIS BOOK I LOVED! It was laugh out loud funny, had a fake dating trope, a great diverse cast of characters, I loved how Dani's career is in academia, the realistic depiction of Zaf's anxiety, the fact that they are *~literally perfect~* for each other, and a perfect combination of steam and a couple falling in love before your eyes through deeeep conversations.
This is the second book in the Brown Sisters series. I started reading Get a Life, Chloe Brown last year and I just wasn't in the mood for it, and ended up DNF-ing it. I decided to try the audio for Dani Brown (I've heard from some friends that it's better than the first book), so gave it a go. I'm so glad I did! The narrator was fantastic and Dani and Zaf were such fun characters to read and fall in love with each other.
Brooding security guard Zaf works security at the campus that Dani works at. They have a surface level, friendly relationship: Dani brings him a coffee in the morning and he gives her a protein bar for breakfast. Things get more intense when during a fire drill gone wrong, Zaf rescues Dani from a broken elevator and carries her outside. It takes no time at all before #DrRugbae starts trending and Zaf realizes how the publicity could help his not-for-profit; Dani is down to "fake date" for a few weeks as long as Zaf understands she is in no way looking for a real relationship... but neither can deny their attraction for one another.
This is definitely a rom com I'd recommend to anyone who can handle some open door steam.
