My Favourite Books of 2020

It is crazy that another year is behind us. I read 186 books this year, the most I've ever read, and probably ever will read in a year. While 2020 was an absolute rollercoaster, my love for reading was a constant. There is nothing like finding an escape between the pages; and between living through a global pandemic, losing my job, and the world as we know it turning on its head, an escape was necessary.

All of my favourites below gave me that “can’t eat, can’t sleep, reach for the stars, over the fence, world series kind of love” while reading them (can you name that movie?!). Without further ado, here are my favourite books from 2020:

✨Kindred by Octavia E. Butler

✨Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah

✨Shit, Actually by Lindy West 🎧

✨Devolution by Max Brooks 🎧

✨The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett

✨We Keep the Dead Close by Becky Cooper

✨A Promised Land by Barack Obama 🎧

✨Crescent City by Sarah J Maas

✨Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi

✨And They Called it Camelot by Stephanie Marie Thornton

✨Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman

✨Leave the World Behind by Rumaan Alam

✨My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh

✨One to Watch by Kate Stayman-London

These books are so special to me, and have stayed with me one way or another since I've read them.

I have loved seeing everyone’s favourite books of the year. If you could recommend ONE book to read in 2021, what would it be?
