Ghosts of Harvard by Francesca Serritella

BOOK 36 OF 2021

RATING: 4.5/5

If you're looking for a book that has serves some dark, academia vibes with a little bit of everything genre wise, look no further. Now how do I even begin to give a non-spoiler summary of this book?

Cadence Archer starts her semester at Harvard determined to find out what happened to her brother; a diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic who took his own life while at Harvard the year prior. Armed with his notebook of cryptic scribblings, Cady is convinced her brother was driven to madness by hearing voices because of his schizophrenia... and then she starts to hear voices too. She gets to know these three voices that used to walk the halls of Harvard and tries to help them with their unfinished business while also diving deeper into Eric's past.

Ultimately, this is a story of processing grief told through a beautiful mashup of historical fiction, romance, mystery, and paranormal elements. I loved this book so much, it was such a unique and fantastic debut, and I cannot wait to see what Serritella does next. I will be preordering!
