Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender

BOOK 18 OF 2021

RATING: 4.5/5

Oh Felix! What a delightful, beautiful book with so much heart.

Felix Love is a transgender teen who's never been in love before; it seems that everyone around him is able to fall in love, and be loved in return with such ease. Since his transition, Felix has struggled with his relationship with his parents, and I really enjoyed reading about his relationship and how it progressed with his father.

This is the first transgender own voices book I've read. I love how it was written in first person and how as the reader you lived in Felix's head. I also found it interesting that even after Felix transitioned, he still questioned his identity. I guess I naively had the assumption that someone who felt wrong in their given body, once changed, would feel "complete". I learned so much through Callender's storytelling via Felix.

This is honestly just a really lovely book to read. My heart felt so full when reading it, and I loved getting to spend so much time with Felix and learning from him and loving him.
