Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner
BOOK 51 OF 2021
RATING: 5/5
Wow, what an incredible memoir, and one I'm so glad that I listened to. Zauner's storytelling is so raw, vulnerable and full of emotion. I'm sure I would have had a similar experience reading this book vs. listening to it (which I did), but there is just something about listening to someone share their story that makes the reading experience so much better!
"This is a memoir about growing up Korean American, losing her mother, and forging her own identity."
This story was so raw and vulnerable. This was one of those books that I found myself listening to any spare moment I had. I don't often volunteer to wash the dishes, but I would do anything to get an extra 10-15 minutes with this book.
Zauner has a complicated relationship with her mother, but ultimately one that is rooted in love. Man I just wanted to hug my mom and tell her how much I love her when I was reading this book!
