Book Review: Slammed by Colleen Hoover

Book: 108/150

Rating: 4/5

I didn't like the last CoHo I read (my first one star review for a book this year!), but I think this one cracked my top 5 Colleen Hoover books.

My favourite Colleen Hoover books (coincidentally, I just realized) have adults as main characters (Verity, It Ends With Us, and All Your Perfects). Even though this book is about teens, it isn't as unbearably angsty as some teen romances can be.

Even though it's a simple story, the execution was great because Hoover is such a wonderful writer (I can't believe this was her debut book)! Girl is forced to move across the country with her family, girl meets boy, they fall for each other hard, and quickly find out there's a reason they can't be together. CoHo usually throws a twist in the book early on so I'm being intentionally vague with the summary, but this one is a great, easy read. I like how there was a focus on family dynamics, as well as relationships between friends, and prioritizing what is important in life.

I'm part of a book club that reads one Colleen Hoover book every month, so by this time next year I'll have her entire backlist read I'm hoping! Her books are always a guaranteed quick read for me.
