Book Review: She Will Rise by Katie Hill
Book: 148/150
Rating: 3/5
Thank you to Grand Central Publishing and Goodreads for this giveaway win! Part memoir, part essay and manifesto, former Congresswoman Katie Hill shares her experiences with misogyny and double standards in politics.
I enjoyed the blend of personal experiences, historical anecdotes and statistics; it makes it an easy and quick read. I do think though that it was all very surface level and especially with regards to her personal life she doesn't delve really deep. You can tell she is trying to pack a lot into this book but I think I would have enjoyed it more if it she dug deeper on some sections.
It is absolutely terrible what she went through and I truly hope she finds peace and is able to work through the trauma of being a victim of revenge porn. I do think that she glossed a bit over the fact that she resigned due to the fact she had a relationship with a staffer. I get that this isn't something you want to harp on, but it was a large part of the story to gloss over.
Overall this one was a quick read, and I look forward to putting it in my Little Free Library pile and hopefully someone else will feel inspired reading it!
