Book Review: Royal Holiday by Jasmine Guillory

Book: 176

Rating: 4/5

I *finally* read a Jasmine Guillory book! And this certainly won't be my last; this was such a sweet contemporary romance.

Vivian accompanies her daughter Maddie on a work trip to London to style a member of the royal family and Vivian is excited for her first vacation in a long time: to take in the sights, enjoy the food and the culture and spend some time with her daughter. What she doesn't expect is to spend so much time with the Queen's private secretary, Malcolm, who ends up spending a lot of his work and personal time showing Vivian around. When they can't deny their connection... will they be able to end their 'when in Rome' affair?

I really don't know how else to describe this book other than 'sweet'. Sometimes contemporary romcom's can be oversaturated by eye rolling miscommunications or immaturity on the part of the protagonists, so it was nice to read about a couple falling in love who were kind, respectful, and just completely in awe of one another. While I definitely consider this one a holiday read, it's not a very in your face Christmas book, but just enough festive to get you in the holiday mood. I also really can't remember if I've ever read a romance between a middle aged couple before - and I loved it!
