Book Review: Queen Move by Kennedy Ryan
Book: 109/150
Rating: 4/5
Kimba and Ezra have known each other since they were babies, promised to marry each other when they were 6, shared their first kiss at 13, and were pretty much inseparable. When Ezra's mom abruptly decides to move to New York, their paths don't cross for another 20 some odd years and the spark hasn't gone away.
I was really impressed with this second chance romance. I loved the diversity of characters; Ezra's pride in his Black-Jewish heritage and wanting to share that with his son was sweet to read. I also *love* when politics is incorporated into fictional novels and it was fascinating to follow Kimba's job as a political consultant running campaigns.
When I'm reading romances I like the story to have some depth to it and for the main characters to be their own person (and not only existing within the context of their love interests). I thought Kimba and Ezra were such great characters to read, and their chemistry bounced off the page.
This is definitely a slow burn romance, but it's worth it. Turns out Queen Move is actually the third in the series and can be read as a stand alone, but I plan on exploring Ryan's backlist because her writing was really great!
