Book Review: Oona Out of Order by Margarita Montimore

Book: 46/100

Rating: 5/5

Read this book if you like: magical realism, the power of family, a young woman finding herself.

Summary: On Oona’s 19th birthday (January 1, 1983), when the clock strikes midnight on NYE, she leaps forward in time to her 51st birthday and discovers that she lives her adult life out of order. Every day on her birthday she leaps forwards or backwards in time.

Hopping through decades, pop culture fads, and much-needed stock tips, Oona is still a young woman on the inside but ever changing on the outside. Who will she be next year? Philanthropist? Club Kid? World traveler? Wife to a man she’s never met?

Review: This was such a delightful and fun read! I loved how something minor would happen in one leap and in another leap you find out the significance of it. Sooo many little bits of foreshadowing to catch, which is fun. I couldn’t sleep after I read it. My heart was so full and happy and I kept thinking what would Oona be up to now and that’s just the best feeling when you finish a book.

This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year. A lot of super hyped up books fall flat for me, but this was such a beautiful, perfect book for me right now. I'm intentionally not sharing a lot of my thoughts because I don't want to spoil the book in any way...

Buy it/loan it/skip it? Buy this one!! I wish I had read it sooner.
