Book Review: Layla by Colleen Hoover
Book: 163
Rating: 4/5
This is my first paranormal romance, and I really enjoyed it! It felt like it wasn't too far removed from reality so I didn't have to suspend my disbelief too much and was able to enjoy it.
When Leeds and Layla meet it's practically love at first sight. After an unexpected attack leaves Layla fighting for her life, Leeds decides to whisk her away to the bed and breakfast they met at (not too concerned about the fact that the B&B is for sale and they're the only ones that will be staying there). Once they arrive, Layla's behaviour takes a bizarre turn, which is just one of the many inexplicable occurrences that take place at the B&B.
Tons of other stuff happens after that, but I don't want to give too much away. I kept thinking I had the ending figured out, and was expecting a different feeling of the ending, but I'm glad it ended the way it did! I love when author's step out of their comfort zone; CoHo is a great romance writer, and the vast majority of her novels are romance, but she knocked it out of the park with Verity, an incredible thriller, and wrote a very enjoyable paranormal romance.
Thank you Amazon Publishing for my advanced digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This one comes out December 8, 2020!
