Book Review: Faking Under the Mistletoe by Ashley Shepherd

Book: 178

Rating: 3.5/5

Don't let the 3.5 star rating fool you - I really enjoyed this book! It was funny, cute, festive, and I found the characters really likeable. This is a good one if you're looking for something that's a bit raunchier than a Hallmark Christmas book.

Olivia is the literal embodiment of Christmas cheer: as the social media intern at a publicity company (where she runs all of the holiday activities), she signs her emails "Santa's Executive Helper," and does her best to rally the troops to participate in sleigh rides, ice skating, and ugly sweater contests. Her boss, Asher, is quite the grinch, and can't be bothered with anything Christmas. Olivia (in the heat of the moment feeling bad for Asher as he runs into his ex) kisses him in front of his ex-girlfriend at a Christmas tree lighting... and things get complicated, to say the least.

I find I tend to like rom com's more if they have a side, bigger picture storyline or message they're getting across, and I felt the #MeToo storyline in this book was executed well. This wasn't the most exceptionally written book in the world, but when I'm reading a fun Christmas rom com, I want good banter, Christmas activities, and a fun lead: and this one had it all!
