Book Review: Cock and Bull by Laura Barnard
Book: 107/150
Rating: 3/5
Phoebe and Ella are surprised when they learn that they inherited their great aunt’s pub in Ireland. They decide to move there, renovate and freshen up the pub and get it back in business; along the way Phoebe meets this brooding Irish babe (Clooney), they quickly see how fast news spreads in this tiny town and gets to know some of the quirky characters that live in it.
The story focuses more on Phoebe but I liked that her sister was a part of the story as well. There were moments where I was laughing out loud, and I really enjoyed reading the distinct English and Irish dialect (I have a lot of family from the U.K so I always learn lots of new words – lol). My one thing with this one is there were a few plot points that I felt were a bit rushed and moved a bit too quickly and weren’t all that necessary to the story. I would have liked for there to have been more character development for both Phoebe and Clooney. Overall, this was a fun rom com and if you’re looking for a light read this is it.
Thanks Laura for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review. This one came out on July 28.
