Book Review: Caraval by Stephanie Garber
Book: 119/150
Rating: 4/5
This is a fun, whimsical read to transport yourself to another world.
After years of writing letters begging for tickets to attend the legendary annual Caraval, Scarlet finally gets her wish. Just days before she is supposed to get married to a man she's never met, her and her sister Tella take advantage of their tickets and go out for a final hurrah before Scarlet's pending nuptials, and to escape their abusive father.
Once at Caraval they get separated quickly. But with the lines of fantasy and reality constantly blurred.. what is real and what isn't? And can Scarlet solve all of the clues to find her sister?
I’m a fantasy newbie for sure (I’ve only read the ACOTAR series) but was pleasantly surprised by this one! It was easy to follow along (for my realist mind) and I was more into the plot than the characters, but I suspect since this is a trilogy we'll delve deeper into the characters in the following books.
I immediately requested the other two books from the library and look forward to having another fantasy series under my belt!
