Beartown by Fredrik Backman
BOOK 10 OF 2021
RATING: 5/5
It's funny, I've already re-read two books this year and I have a few others that I plan on re-reading because I feel like my reading tastes have changed over the past few years. I had a vibe that some books I've read in the past (Beartown, Severance, My Brilliant Friend) I could re-read and LOVE. I was right on the money with Beartown!
ANYWAYS, this is all just to say this book is phenomenal. Backman has a beautiful way of making the setting a character and the writing is so vivid I truly feel like I have lived in Beartown. It's so familiar, both the town and the characters, and Backman's writing style is so lyrical but readable. I love this little hockey town and the people who try so hard not to let the toxicity of the sport and the people bring it down.
Love love loved it the second time around. I listened to it on audio by my queen Marin Ireland, and it was incredible. I have a physical copy of the sequel but I'll be listening to the audiobook version.
