Audiobook Review: Yes Please by Amy Poehler

Book: 39/40

Rating: 4/5

Summary: In Amy Poehler’s highly anticipated first book,Yes Please, she offers up a big juicy stew of personal stories, funny bits on sex and love and friendship and parenthood and real life advice (some useful, some not so much), like when to be funny and when to be serious. Powered by Amy’s charming and hilarious, biting yet wise voice,Yes Please is a book full of words to live by.

Thoughts: I have such a complicated relationship with audiobooks: I love the idea of them, and want to listen to more of them! But for me, they're always competing with music and podcasts, so it's hard for me to prioritize them. I've been working from home a lot more lately, and have recently made the switch from Audible to Libro.fm so have been making more of an effort (and having more time) to listen to audiobooks.

I started Amy Poehler's memoir sometime last year, and decided now was the time to finish it up. She is a great storyteller, and it was really fun to listen along for all of the great cameos she had throughout her book. It was a great read: light and funny, and I loved hearing all the behind the scenes stories from her time at Saturday Night Live and Parks and Rec (one of my fav shows!!).

She had her parents read a chapter: it's evident she is really close with her family and found it such a sweet gesture! Amy (yes, I feel like I'm on a first name basis with authors once I read their memoirs), has a great audiobook voice and felt like a friend was talking to you the whole time. If you like her work you'll enjoy this, and even if you aren't as familiar with her work, you'll find this a really fun listen!
