Audiobook Review: The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo

Book: 130/150

Rating: 3.5/5

Man, can Elizabeth Acevedo narrate everything? I love that she narrates her audiobooks. Her passion is second to none.

Xiomara, known as X, pours all of her feelings and frustrations into her poetry. After being invited to join her school's slam poetry club, X doesn't know if that's something she can hide from her uber strict and religious mother, who is trying to get X to abide by the laws of the church. With slam poetry, questioning the church, and catching feelings for a boy at school.... X now more than ever needs to find her voice.

I'm not much of a poetry reader, but Acevedo is one of those authors where I will read/listen to anything she writes.

I was a bit distracted when listening to this on audio; that could have just been me. I love how Acevedo tells a story, I enjoyed Clap When You Land more and couldn't help but compare it to that when I was listening to it.
