Audiobook Review: Hamilton the Revolution by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jeremy McCarter
Book: 110/150
Rating: 3.5/5
I'm sure by now most people have used their free Disney+ trial to watch Hamilton. For me, it completely lived up to the hype! Immediately after watching it, I obsessively listened to the soundtrack and placed Hamilton by Ron Chernow (the biography the play is based on) on hold at the library. When I came across Hamilton: The Revolution on Libro.fm I knew I needed to listen to it. A play by play of the development of Hamilton? Yes please.
When you can't get the author to narrate the book, a celebrity narrator is the next best thing. Mariska Hargitay was a great narrator for this book!
This book only gets 3.5 stars from me because I knew most of the 'behind the scenes' intel already (from when I was in my post-Hamilton viewing rabbithole), so there wasn't too much that was new to me. I did love learning about all of the passion and care that went into crafting the music, lyrics, and story, which of course is evident watching the play.
If you're a fan of Hamilton, or love theatre, this is a great read or listen.
