A Very Bookish Week

What a week this turned out to be!. First of all: I WON A KOBO!! Kobo partnered up with a few bookstagrammers to giveaway some e-readers for World Book Day and I won one of them. I love my Kobo Clara HD, which I've had for years, but for something I use upwards of a few hours a day, I felt due for an upgrade. I am so grateful!!

WHAT I READ & WHAT I'M READING

I finished an absolutely incredible book called The Change by Kirsten Miller. You can bet you're getting a pub day post when it publishes on May 3, but you can read my 'in progress' thoughts here.

I finished up the fourth in the Throne of Glass series, Queen of Shadows. I think this was my least favourite of the series so far: it was long (I mean, they all are) but there was just so much going on I feel like I just didn't have the capacity to keep up with it all. It felt like a bridge book that was just getting all the characters ready for the next book.

FAVOURITES FROM THE WEEK

Severance

When I first heard there was going to be a tv show called Severance I thought it was based on the book (which I was excited for)! But when I found out it wasn't and watched the trailer, I knew it would be a show I'd get sucked into. It's wildly original, thought-provoking and dystopian. I just finished it, am 100% obsessed and can't stop thinking about it. A new favourite show for sure!! I think one of my favourites from the past few years (dare I say)? You can watch the trailer here.

Women's Prize Shortlist

I was really looking forward to Wednesday because that's when the Wo men's Prize shortlist was announced!! I told myself this year I wanted to read the whole shortlist, and it feels more possible than last year because I've read 3/6 of the books. I posted about it on Instagram here.

Independent Bookstore Day

If you're me, every Saturday is independent bookstore day. Throughout the pandemic, my spending habits really changed and I find it far more fun and rewarding to shop at small businesses or local stores vs. at a larger chain. I usually scour the used shelves to give some great books a second home, but this Saturday I splurged on some new releases. I am beyond excited to read what I picked up!!
