2021 Reading Goals

When thinking about my book goals in the past, they were always very numbers focused. I wanted to step out of my comfort zone (read classics!) and challenge myself (don’t buy as many books and read my backlist!) but still have fun and diversify my reading.

Here are some of my goals:

✨Continue to diversify my reading: I want 50% of the books I read in 2021 to be authored by BIPOC

✨Read six classics

✨Read 21 backlist books (aka books I already own)

✨Read what I want to read. This sounds easier said than done - but far too often I read a book that everyone is talking about, but doesn't really sound like my jam, and I don't end up enjoying it. Life is too short to read books you're not enjoying!

✨Buy with intent. I want to ~*try*~ to limit myself to buying one new book a month (thrifting doesn't count!). I want to focus on reading books I already own and not let my shelves get toooo out of control. Also, I'm going to make a concerted effort to buy the vast majority of my books from my local indie bookstore!

OH and maybe write my book reviews right after finishing a book and jumping into the next one. I don’t want to get 10-15 books reviews behind like I did last year 😅

I LOVE hearing about reading goals. If you have any for 2021, let me know!
